This pirate theme slot, takes you into the battle, where you will be spinning for landfall bonuses with max prize up to 5,679x (an odd multiplier yes).

Though the game is around a month away from an official release, Yukon Gold Casino has it exclusively in their Early Access library.

Slot Design

Totally Reckless has the standard 5×3 gameboard with 5 reels, 3 rows and 243 paylines.

The slot’s volatility is set to HIGH, the RTP is 96.07% and the trigger rate is 36.67%.

The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, with the maximum bet per spin reaching 40.00$, and the max winnable prize being capped at an oddly 5,679x.

The studio is sticking with this bet menu, though they can just remove the upper half add the rest of the bet presets there and make it the ideal one click menu.

The slot has not settings menu, as the mute sounds button and quick spins are on the gameboard. The only other menu is the autoplay menu.

The studio should probably add a settings menu, add a few options for sounds, music, perhaps even volume sliders.

In terms of animations, symbols and music the slot is very well done, well polished and looks like a finished quality product.

Slot Features

  • Wilds: The wilds in this slot substitute for all regular symbols. The wilds show up only in base game.

These showed up often during my testing, but almost all of the time they offered very little to nothing. Sadly over thousands of spins, base game is where you will spend most of your time, with literally nothing happening.

  • Landfall Bonus Feature: This feature triggers randomly whenever the scatter symbol, which is the explosive barrel shows up and explodes with tokens.

The tokens differ in colors and can be anywhere from Bronze to Diamond. The chain with the specific anchor will raise up once the tokens hit it. Despite the fact that it looks like the feature should trigger when the chain reach the very top, it doesn’t, it’s still a random trigger.

The feature starts with 3 spins and whenever a prize lands, or an upgrades symbol or jackpot token, the spins reset back to 3. During the spins besides cash prizes, there can be a feature upgrade symbol, a jackpot token or a health potion that raises the reset to 4 spins.

All 4 jackpots have different color and shape tokens. Once you collect the necessary amount of tokens the jackpot is awarded. The jackpots are Silver 10x, Gold 50x, Platinum 500x and Diamond 5,000x.

The diamond feature is the end of the road, the highest of the highest. You can either get here like me from Gold and land upgrading symbols, or you can trigger the feature from the base game. Trigger happens so rarely, you start questioning if it ever happens. Most of my triggers were either Silver or Gold and I managed to upgrade them to Platinum or Diamond.

  • Charged Bet: The Charge Bet feature, removes the ability of Landfall Bonus to trigger as Bronze or Silver. The feature makes your total bet 2.5x but it still does not change the trigger rate.

And while this improves the feature once it triggers, because the cash prizes will be bigger, the cost and the low trigger rate makes it pretty much not worth it , or at least that’s what I experienced.

  • Buy Bonus: If the player does not wish to wait for the triggers they can purchase them for some pretty hefty prices.

A random Landfall Bonus costs 100x, and random means random it can be the lowest possible. The second option still triggers a random Landfall Bonus but with more upgrades, jackpot gems, coins and special symbols.

Verdict

Is Totally Reckless worth your time? I honestly cannot recommend this slot to anyone who wishes to enjoy slots.

I spent almost all of my time in base game, with autoplay on, waiting for the ONLY feature in this slot the Landfall Bonus to trigger.

I would go on super dry streaks for hundreds of spins before I saw a small Silver or Bronze trigger, win some 30x-40x and get back in base game for an additional hundred spins.

My suggestion is if you are going to make a game, with a single feature, make sure this feature triggers often enough to keep players entertained. Shame for the brilliants visuals, animations and music.
