This is the studio’s brand new slot, where the players will get a chance to spin the reels with Lock’n’Win feature and a max prize up to 5,000x the bet.

3 Lucky Hippos online slot has the standard 5×3 gameboard, with 5 reels, 3 rows and 243 to 7776 paylines on it.

The slot’s RTP is 96.00%, the volatility is set to VERY HIGH, and the hit rate is 27.43%.

The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet per spin reaches 50.00$, making the slot ideal for all types of players.

PearFiction Studios has always had a great betting menu, allowing players to select a preset bet, use the min/max buttons or adjust the bet with the plus and minus buttons.

The settings menu they use is equally impressive, allowing us to not only mute the sounds and music, but also adjust their volume, an option that is missing from most modern slots.

In addition, we have Quick Spins, and Turbo Spins, an option to spin with the spacebar on the keyboard, as well as big wins splash page option.

Overall UI looks great, the symbols and sounds are very well done, which is becoming a pattern in all PearFiction Studios slots.

Slot Features

• Wilds: The wilds in this game substitute for all symbols but cash, collect, split and locus symbols.

A very common symbol that will show up quite often in your spins and will help you to complete a win.

• Collect Feature: A common feature involving cash symbols with prizes between 0.2x and 100x which can be collected by a collect symbol which only lands on reel 5.

While this is not a rare feature, the instances where the cash prizes are something big, are rare. Most of the time we saw prizes around 1x – 5x.

• Split Symbols: The split symbol lands on the top row and can add up to 3 rows on the reel they land on. These symbols carry over to the Lock’n’Win feature.

At first we were not sure how this feature worked and we were expecting some visual adjustment of the rows but there was none. However upon closer look we saw that the reel just became more row and included more symbols, and the paylines changed on both sides. On this screen you can see that reel 1 has 6 rows, reel 2 has 4, and reel 4 has 5. In addition the multiplier symbol on top multiplied the win as well.

• Lotus Symbols: The lotus symbol lands on the top of the row and whenever the player collects one on each row they will instantly trigger the Lock’n’Win feature with all 3 features instantly.

The lotus symbols can be seen on the bottom of the screen, and the one that are blooming are the ones with a landed lotus symbol, in our case reel 4 and 5.

• Lock’n’Win feature: This feature is pretty much like a Link&Win feature that you may have seen in Microgaming slots, but with various improvements for more wins and higher wins. The orange coin triggers the Multiplier feature with a previously collected multiplier in base game up to 10x. The yellow coin triggers the feature with Jackpots: Micro 10x, Mini 20x, Minor 100x, Major 500x, and Mega 5,000x. If an pink coin triggers the feature it comes with a Supreme bonus which are orange and pink cash symbols which do additional collecting on top of the original collect symbol.

A lot of flashing animations left and right and initially it’s hard to see what’s happening, but here’s a breakdown. The bottom has 3 yellow stars which show the initial 3 respins that you get. Every time you land any sort of symbol, those will reset back to 3. If they do not the stars turn purple, until you have none left and the feature ends.

Landing the corresponding jackpot will fill one of the gaps on the left. Landing it the appropriate amount will award it, in our case we landed the Mini 3 times and we will get the 20x jackpot. We managed to land Minor 3 times and needed 1 more to receive that one as well.

The multiplier in our feature was 2x, so at the end of the feature all prizes were multiplied by 2, but this could go up to 10x. We had one orange symbol which collected all cash prizes and was at 14.4x at the end.

• Buy Feature: If the player simply wishes to purchase the Lock’n’Win feature they can do so for a calculated cost.

The costs are 35.1x for the feature with Multiplier, 26.16x for the feature with Supreme, 37.70x for the feature with Jackpots. The combinations cost, from 54.70x for Multiplier & Jackpots, 57.00x for Jackpots & Supreme, and 63.25x for Multiplier & Supreme. If you wish to have all 3 features it will cost you 81.70x

Verdict

This would be one of the slots that players will either love or hate, depending on how the volatility treats them.

Since it’s a very high volatile slot, you can go through extended periods of time where you just don’t land anything.

While you are building up a multiplier in base game, and you see the occasional wilds and collect features, the big money is in the Lock’n’Win feature.

When triggered with combinations it has a very high winning potential, especially if you land a Supreme and Multiplier combo.

We found out the jackpot feature is pretty hit or miss and you might not land anything, but at the same time the highest win of 5,000x is there as well.

Overall decent slot, with decent visuals and max prizes, but crazy high volatility that will either be with you or against you.
