Action Boost Amber Island is an online slot, developed by SpinPlay Games, powered by Apricot online casinos, released in May 2023.

The fiery/volcano theme, makes this slot quite hot, allowing players to spin the reels with the help of random reveal lava symbols.

The reveal symbols can contain gem symbols, that get collected by the 3 volcanoes on the top of the gameboard, which have a chance to trigger free spins with different features, with a max prize up to 5,000x the bet.

Action Boost Amber Island online slot has a slightly bigger 5×4 gameboard, consisting of 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 fixed paylines, which in a specific free spins trigger changes to 6 rows and 40 fixed paylines.

The slot’s RTP is 96.39% and its variance is set to MEDIUM.

The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet per spin reaches 50.00$, making the slot ideal for a wide range of players.

SpinPlay Games is using the same interface as in most of their slots, allowing you to change the bet via + and – buttons (bottom left), but that requires plenty of clicking.

A little workaround we found some time ago, was to use the Autoplay menu, which is accessible via the + arrow above the Spin button on the right.

In this menu, the total bet can be set by a simple slider, you just drag it to a desired amount and you can even close the menu and the bet selection will persist.

The Quick Spin option is also nested in that + arrow and is right about the Autoplay button.

The menu on the bottom right, has no other settings, just a mute button and a payline button, meaning we can’t turn off the music or the sounds individually.

In terms of visuals, the symbols are very well done, and the animations are also smooth, but that’s something quite normal for slots released by this developer.

Slot Features

• Wilds: The fiery woman is the Wild symbol in this game and substitutes for all symbols but gem symbols and can be stacked on all reels.

These show up very frequently, so expect to see them quite often, though as you can see the wins are not always anything noticeable.

• Random Reveal Symbol: Very often, you will see the Random Reveal Lava Symbol, that can reveal any symbol in the game excluding wilds, and can reveal a gem symbol as well.

In free spins, the reveal symbol can also reveal a volcano symbol which awards a bonus cash prize.

• Action Boost™ Free Spins: Whenever the Random Reveal symbol reveals a gem, it can be Green, Red or Purple, and it will be collected by the respective volcano on the top of the gameboard. The more you collect the higher the chance for a trigger. Multiple volcanos can trigger at the same time.

• Green Gem Action Boost Free Spins: Triggered by the left volcano with the green gem icon. This feature starts with 5 free spins and expands the gameboard to a 5×6 board with 40 fixed paylines. During this feature, the Volcano symbol is active, which awards random cash prizes.

This feature relies entirely on landing Wilds, which will nudge across the whole reel, and if you manage to land a few of them, can result in high payouts. For this feature the overall payout was around 43x.

• Red Gem Action Boost Free Spins: This feature is triggered by the middle volcano with the red gem icon. It starts with 10 free spins, and 4 active jackpots Mini – 10x, Minor – 50x, Major – 500x and Mega – 5000x. These jackpots will be represented by different color gems, where collecting the desired amount of the same color will award the jackpot.

In our screenshot we managed to collect 3 green gems, which is the requirement for the Mini jackpot. Once you are awarded the jackpot the gems of the corresponding jackpot are cleared and start again from zero. The gem symbols can only be found in the Volcano Symbols.

• Purple Gem Action Boost Free Spins: This feature is triggered by the right volcano with the purple icon on it. The feature starts with 5 free spins and a random multiplier between 2x, 3x and 5x on each spin. The Volcano symbols can awards extra spins during this feature.

Overall you would rarely see the 5x multiplier pop up and it will mostly be 2x and 3x. We managed to get 4 extra spins, but the overall payout for the feature was around 26x.

• Multi-Gem Action Boost Free Spins: It’s possible for different gems to trigger simultaneously giving you access to 2 or 3 features as the same time. If the red gem is involved in the trigger, you’d be awarded 10 free spins, otherwise 5 free spins. The multiplier feature applies only to cash prizes and line wins and does not multiply the jackpot prizes.

Here, we managed to trigger red and purple gem free spins, giving us 10 free spins and a line multiplier. During the feature we managed to receive 3 extra spins and triggered the Mini jackpot twice. The total payout and the end of our 13 spins was around 40x.

The second time we triggered the multi-gem feature was with a green and purple gem, expanding the gameboard and giving us a random multiplier. This was quite a powerful combo, as the Wilds nudge during this feature and then the wins are multiplied by the multiplier. At the end we received around a 81x payout.

This is one of the combinations you should be looking forward to.

Verdict

We absolutely loved Action Boost Amber Island, and we think it’s a wonderful slot.

The Action Boost feature is proving itself to be quite popular, allowing players to receive free spins with different kind of perks.

To be honest we did not expect to see the multi-gem feature trigger very often, but we were pleasantly surprised.

Out of the 17 triggers we managed to get, 6 of them were multi-gem triggers, offering different variations of the perks that gave substantial payouts for a medium volatile slot.
