The studio has a lot of slots starting with the word Action, but this is the first one called Action Ways, with a max prize of 5,000x.
While the game files show 5,000x, during our testing we found out that the MEGA jackpots goes over that amount, so we are pretty sure 5,000x is not the cap.
Though the slot is a few weeks away from an official release, Yukon Gold Casino has it early and exclusively in their library.
Slot Design
Action Ways Buffalo has a slightly bigger 5×4 gameboard, consisting of 5 reels, 4 rows and 1024 paylines.
The slot’s RTP is 96.49%, the volatility has been set to HIGH and the hit rate is 38.87%.
The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.10$, while the maximum bet reaches 50.00$, with the max prize being listed at 5,000x, but we do see that it goes over that number during gameplay.
We’ve always praised SpinPlay Games for their great bet menu, allowing the players to select their desired wager with a single click, now even more when they’ve decided to just add a second page when the choices are too many. We hope to see more developers switch to this type of menu.
The settings menu has only one option, which makes use think why not just add it to the Autoplay menu, which has everything else. The quick spins are here, you can adjust the wager via a slider from here and you don’t even have to start the autoplay.
Overall the UI looks very similar to other Action slots, with wonderful clean symbols, great animations and music.
Slot Features
- Wilds: The wilds in this slot substitute for all symbols but jackpot coins and action way coins.
During testing these showed up quite often during base game and in free spins, and contribute A LOT in the free spins where the low paying symbols are removed.
- Jackpot Coins: At the end of each spin collecting Jackpot coins contribute to a random jackpot. This is where our confusion raised as the MEGA jackpot starts from 5,000x, and the max prize of the slot is also listed as 5,000x
After less than a hundred spins, the MEGA jackpot here is already 5,017x so we are not sure why the max prize has been listed at 5,000x.
- Pick Feature: At the end of each base game spin, collecting a jackpot coin can trigger this feature.
Matching 3 tokens from the corresponding jackpot awards it. Once again we are not sure why the max prize is listed as 5,000x, when the MEGA jackpot here is already 5,034x. Once a jackpot is awarded it resets back to its base value. Mini 5x, Minor 10x, Major 50x, Maxi 200x and MEGA 5,000x.
- Action Ways Free Spins: Whenever one or more Action Ways coins appear on the board, they are collected and can randomly trigger one of the three free spins features. The free spins starts with 10 spins, and the perks can be: All low paying symbols are removed, wilds get 2x, 3x and 5x multiplier, the gameboard becomes bigger with more paylines.
This is a trigger where all of the low paying symbols are gone. Our winnings here were close to 50x and we felt that this perk is quite good.
Out of the three perks, this one with the more paylines felt like the most underwhelming one, since the low paying symbols showed up everywhere.
The multiplier on Wilds is a decent perk, but on itself it didn’t feel that impactful, and our total winnings were around 20x-30x.
When multiple features are active, it’s where the big money are made. In this run we managed to get a 171.6x payout and if we had the wild multipliers it would have been even better. We believe trick to the big winnings always revolves around removing the low paying symbols.
Verdict
Is Action Ways Buffalo worth your time? Yeah, it’s a decent slot but with some confusing information about the slot.
The technical sheet of the slot states that the max win is capped at 5,000x, which is the MEGA jackpot, but Jackpot coins increase that, and even after only a few hundred spins it’s already at 5,100x, so is the max 5,000x or is it higher?
The pick feature was not as rare as we expected, so it’s something to be considered, as opposed to some other slots where we’d get it once every few thousand spins and it was basically non-existent.
The free spins perk are also decent, but we felt like the ‘remove all low paying symbols’ was too impactful. Basically if you didn’t unlock that one, there was no point expecting high winnings.
Decent game as we said already, that will be officially out in a few weeks, but Yukon Gold Casino, Canada’s top online casino, has it early and exclusively in their library, right now.
