This is the sequel to the Area Link Dragon Slot, released in May 2024, now with more dragon eggs but the same 5,000x max win.
Although the game is more than a month away from an official release, Yukon Gold Casino has it early and exclusively in their library.
Slot Design
Area Link Dragon Ascension has the standard 5×3 gaming board, with 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 fixed paylines.
The slot’s RTP is 96.47%, the volatility is HIGH and the hit rate is set to 30.63%.
The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet per spin reaches 50.00$, with max prize cap at 5,000x.
Area Vegas remain true to one of the best betting menus, with all options being listed, even if it means adding a second page to the menu, where the player can select their desired wager with a single click.
While the settings menu has only one option, and that’s a hotkey, there’s a volume slider on the gameboard and additional options in the autoplay menu.
The bet can also be adjusted here as well as the quick spins and the only thing missing is separate sound options for background sounds and music.
Overall the UI remains very similar to the original and most games from Area Vegas, with clean polished images and smooth animations.
Slot Features
- Wilds: The wilds in this slot can substitute for all symbols but Fireball symbols.
While these are very common and will occasionally contribute to some small winnings during base game, the slot is all about triggering the Area Link feature. Unfortunately that means that during base game, there’s almost nothing happening.
- Area Link Feature: When a Fireball symbol lands on the reels, it will turn into one of the 6 colors above the gameboard. The egg of the representing color will get hit by the fireball and it has a chance to hatch and trigger this feature. The feature starts as a normal Link&Win feature with 3 respins, where each prize that lands gets locked and the respins reset back to 3. Multiple feature can be active that the same time.
When the feature is triggered, the active perk will show up colored. There are a total of 5 perks: Green Multiplier, where every spin offers 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier. Purple or Pink Double Array offer 2 sets of gameboards. If both are active you get a total of 4. The Blue Blast feature which give the blue ball a random value and then adds that sum a random amount of times to nearby prizes. The Red Collect All instant collects all prizes that are currently on the board, and the Orange Boost perk which boosts itself by a random amount on each spin.
During our testing, the most common feature we triggered was the Blast one, where the blue ball would turn into a random amount. The Mini 10x, Minor 20x and Major 100x jackpots are also an option. The Grand 5,000x jackpot is awarded if all positions are filled.
Multiple perks can be active at the same time and this is where this slot shines as the prizes can get quite high if you trigger 2 or more perks.
At the end of this trigger our winnings were 69x, which is pretty decent, considering we had only active 2/5 perks.
- Dragon Ascension Trigger: During base gameplay, sometimes the fireballs can have the Ascension symbol.
This symbol is collected by the dragon on the right and can randomly trigger it. The dragon on itself does not trigger a different feature but Area Link with a random amount of perks active.
Most of the time the active features would be around 2 or 3, and on very very rare occasions 4 or all 5.
When all features trigger, the board would look like this, where having both Purple and Pink grants a total of 4 boards. Because each board spins individually, the feature takes quite some time. The heavy lifter here is the collect symbol, constantly contributing with big collects for the giant total payout.
A huge 1511x payout at the very end, which shows how valuable the Dragon Ascension can be, if it triggers all possible features. This however happens very rarely, so some players might never see it.
Verdict
Is Area Link Dragon Ascension Slot worth your time? Yeah definitely, especially if you enjoy chasing high paying features.
With that being said, the slot offers very little variety of features, though the one feature that’s present has 5 different perks.
If you are not a fan of Link&Win and would like free spins and variety of features, this would not be the slot for you.
Overall it’s a decent game, and we enjoyed it, and it’s available right now on Yukon Gold Casino, Canada’s top casino, early and exclusively for more than a month ahead of official release.
