Castle Builder 2 Slot Review

Castle Builder 2 is a July 2017 sequel to the original Castle Builder slot from Rabcat.

For those who are unfamiliar, Rabcat is a software developer that exclusively produces slot games for Microgaming casino sites.

Ultimately, this is a video slot experience that integrates a variety of features that you would expect to see in a video game.

In the Castle Builder 2 slot, the right half of the screen is devoted to the five reels and five rows of symbols that can be spun in the search for winnings.

Meanwhile, the left side of the screen has been set aside for building a castle.

At the start of the game, Castle Builder 2 asks that you choose from one of two avatars to use, with a third that can be unlocked later.

Once the game begins, it is possible to go on and discover 15 different games and build up to 75 unique castles.

These unlock one by one as you progress through the different zones, in our case we have unlocked two of the zones on the map.

The fundamentals of the game center upon spinning the reels to gain materials and experience, which can lead to construction of bigger and better castles, as ordered by the kings and nobility you can work for.

At Microgaming casinos, the aim of the game is to match three or more identical building materials on a payline.

Wood, bricks, granite, and iron ore are the core materials needed and they can also generate payouts.

The requirements for each stage are shown in the bottom left.

Once a stage is completed, this will raise the status of the building bar.

As a builder you progress as well, unlocking achievements and levels.

As you can see on the image, our builder is level 3, our castle is around 75% complete and we have 2/6 materials on the bottom left for the next upgrade.

Slot Features

• Wild symbols: these are relatively standard and can fill in the empty gaps of base game symbols.

• Free spins: aim to land three or more scatters in any position in order to gain free spins.

Landing 3 scatters awards 10 free spins, that will start once you click the purple Spin button and will go on automatically. During our test we managed to land this feature quite often, however we rarely got anything out of it.

• The Royal Wedding: Once the building progress bar has been filled and the castle is done, this feature triggers, allowing you to marry the princess with one of the admirers.

Choosing one of the admirers will give you their corresponding prize. However these are not in the order displayed on the progress board previously, so just pick whatever you’d like and hope for the best.

We completed this feature 5 times and tried picking different admirers in terms of position (first, middle, last), but it was always the one with least amount of dollars.

Verdict

Castle Builder 2 expands on the original release by including even more unlock-able elements.

Quite often, slot games fall short when it comes to giving you a reason to replay them.

However, this could not be further from the case with Castle Builder 2, which is filled with new challenges and different avenues to gathering winnings.

If you are looking for a simple just spin slot, this is not it.

There’s plenty of clicking and choosing involved in this game, as well as map selecting and so on, so for some players this might be the ideal game.
