Slot Design
Hot As Hades Power Combo has the standard 5×3 gameboard, with 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 fixed paylines.
The slot’s RTP is 96.2%, the volatility is set to HIGH and the hit rate is 27.00%
The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet reaches 25.00$, with the maximum win capped at 10,000x the bet.
The bet menu is what we think is ideal, allowing the players to select their desired wagers with a simple click and that’s all. On the other hand, the settings menu feels a bit dry with just two options.
The quick spins can also be turned on from the gameboard directly, while the sounds have only on and off option, and many new games have separate options for background sounds and music, as well as volume sliders.
Overall the gameboard of the slot looks very decent, with three animated dog heads above the reels, animated background which brings the heat right at your screen. Clean UI, nice well polished animations, great sense of fluidness when it comes to playing the game and spinning the reels.
Slot Features
- Wilds: The wilds in this slot are the guy with flame for hair, which substitutes for all symbols but the Feature symbols in base game.
These symbols show up quite often and will contribute for some small to mid size wins, but that’s about it. The base game of this slot offers basically nothing and it’s not exciting to spin.
- Link&Win Feature: This is the core of the slot with the Link&Win feature and its perks. When feature symbols land, they have a chance to trigger one of the 3 perks: jackpots, connectors and collectors. The feature starts like a normal Link&Win with 3 respins, and every prize that lands resets the spins back to 3.
With the jackpots perk, additional 4 balls can land on the reels with 4 different colors corresponding to each jackpot: Mini 15x; Minor 50x; Major 500x; and Grand 5,000x. Once 4 balls of the same jackpot are collected, the jackpot is awarded at the end of the feature.
When the collector perk is active, in addition to the prize balls, a green collector ball can land, collecting all existing prizes on the board, including already collected other green balls with prizes in them, just like on the screenshot above.
The connectors perk comes with no additional balls, but with a progressive prize multiplier, for each line you’ve completed, be that horizontal, vertical or diagonal. The more line you complete the higher that prize multiplier gets.
Because this is a power combo slot, two or even 3 perks can be active at the same time. With the 3 perks active, we saw some very very decent payouts around 140x – 190x. Because of the high volatility this is of course not guaranteed.
- Upsizer: Once you’ve triggered the Link & Win feature, the Upsizer will become available, allowing players to purchase additional feature or features for a cost.
One additional feature is 40x, but both, so a total of 3 cost 120x. While the payouts can be great, the costs are quite heavy as well.
- Buy Feature: If a player does not wish to wait for even a single trigger, they can purchase the features for a calculated cost.
All features cost 30x, combinations of two features cost 70x and all three 150x. Like we said, it’s quite costly to be buying features in this slot.
Verdict
Hot as Hades Power Combo bets on a Link&Win feature with 3 different perks, and absolutely nothing in the base game.
While this does add more excitement when you trigger the feature, the base game becomes quite boring especially if you go on a dry run.
The Buy feature is an option, but the costs are between 30x, 70x and 150x for 1,2 and 3 perks respectively making this a costly alternative.
Overall a decent slot once you’ve triggered the core feature, but can get dull and boring when you are just sitting in base game, spinning over and over.
