Twofold for the Gold has the standard 5×3 gameboard with 5 reels, 3 rows and 25 fixed paylines.

The slot’s RTP is 96.01%, the volatility is set to MEDIUM and the hit rate is 24.56%.

The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.25$, while the maximum bet per spin reaches 40.00$, with max prize being capped at 5,000x the bet.

We dislike the menu, the studio has chosen from the very beginning, since most studios have transitioned to a one click templates, rather than make us click up and down to adjust the bet.

On the other hand the settings menu is ideal, offering us separate options for music and sounds in addition using the spacebar as a hotkey to spin.

The overall look of the UI and slot is decent, considering that the very first games from this studio lacked a lot in that department.

Slot Features

• Wilds: The wilds in this slot are the W symbols which substitute for all symbols but scatters, mushrooms, trigger symbols, bonus wheel symbols and prize symbols.

These will show up quite often during gameplay, but we found that they don’t complete a winning combination that often. Perhaps the fact that there are too many other symbols like prize symbols, mushrooms, scatters and so on, there are no paying symbols near the wilds.

• Lucky Levels: These levels open up when you spin the reels. The chest on the top of the gameboard awards lucky spins with different levels. Level 1 grants you 20 lucky spins with Magic Hat symbol being able to land randomly and increase the multiplier on the top right.

We landed that symbol almost right away and increased the multiplier to 1.5x. In addition the symbol adds a bunch of prize money symbols. Level 2 awards 50 lucky spins with 5 wheel booster bonuses that will be added to the reels. Lucky level 3 gives 100 lucky spins and a trigger symbol will be added to reel 1. Level 4 gives 200 lucky spins with a minimum of 20x-200x minimum guaranteed win on all free spins features.

• Express Collect: Landing prize money on the board with a collect symbol on reel 5 triggers this feature.

This is somewhat a more rare feature which will show up roughly every 30-50 spins on average. The most we’ve see from this feature was a 15x.

• Wheel Bonus: Any prize symbol that shows up on the gameboard without a trigger symbol may trigger this feature. This feature can only be triggered in base game and offers the jackpots of Mini 5x, Maxi 10x, Minor 50x, Major 200x, and Mega 1,250x. The jackpots can get boosted by prize boosters on chest level 2. The maximum prizes are Mega 5,000x, Major 800x, Minor 200x, Maxi 80x and Mini 40x.

Basically the player would want this feature to trigger when they’ve reached the maximum payout for all jackpots to have the biggest payout. If the feature triggers too soon you’d only get a shot at winning any of the base values which for the first three jackpots are quite low.

• Free Spins: When the player lands 3 scatters on the gameboard 10 free spins are awarded. We were already on chest level 4 with two set of multipliers and a guaranteed minimum win of 9.5x because of our multipliers.

However we kept not getting a trigger and our multipliers kept on growing with the minimum win surpassing a 100x.

When we finally triggered the feature, a minimum win of 110x was guaranteed, and the multipliers for each collect symbol were 4x on reel 1 and 7x on reel 5. If you did not meet the minimum, your winnings automatically become that. We only got 50x which was converted to 110x. After the free spins there’s a multiplier reset feature.

Both of our multipliers were reset to 2.5x which we were happy with as it’s better than the 1x we originally started with.

Verdict

Twofold for the Gold has been one of the most played slots for the past few weeks on Yukon Gold Casino, and we can see why.

Initially the chest above the slot starts on level 1 with minor perks, and lucky spins but once you’ve reached level 4, it gives you a guaranteed minimum win on your free spins.

In addition the collect feature contributes to some medium size winnings once in a while and on top of there there are five jackpots which can be won on the wheel trigger feature.

Overall our only problem with the slot is the half decent UI that this studio keeps on using, and we are not sure why they are not taking an example from some of the more experienced studios.
