This is the sequel to the very popular 3 Lucky Hippos Slot which became an instant hit in January 2024, and has been one of the most played slots ever since.
While the game is more than two weeks away from an official release, Yukon Gold Casino, Canada’s top online casino has it exclusively for all new and existing players.
Slot Design
Just like the previous slot, 3 Lucky Hippos 2 has a gameboard that has 5 reels, varying rows between 3 and 6 and up to 7,776 paylines.
The slot’s RTP is 96.00%, the volatility is MEDIUM and the hit rate is 29.00%.
The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum reaches 25.00$, with the maximum win being capped at 10,000x.
The bet menu remains the same as all PearFiction slots, with a few betting presets, Min & Max buttons as well as plus and minus buttons. For the sake of simplicity, we would like to see just all available wager options listed, so the player can select the desired bet with a single click.
In terms of Settings, the slot has a lot of those, and it’s the menu we always give as an example to any other studio.
It has everything, from sounds and music being separated and also having volume sliders, to two different spin options, shortcut options and some visual options.
Overall the slot remains almost identical to the original in terms of UI and visuals, and fans of the first one would definitely feel “at home” with this one.
Slot Features
- Wilds: The wilds in this slot are the W symbols, which substitute for all symbols but cash, collect and bonus symbols.
Usually slots, have a lot of those show up during base game, but not this one. I took us a lot of spins until we finally saw a winning combination, involving Wilds. Overall this is not a feature the player will be waiting on for any sort of meaningful wins.
- Top Row Enhancements: The top row spins simultaneously with the rest of the reels, and can have perks that enhance the player’s winnings.
The symbols can be the reel symbol which on the picture adds a total of 6 rows. The additional + symbol which adds a random value from 1x to 25x and a purple multiplier symbol which randomly multiplies a prize from 2x to 100x.
- Collect Feature: The collect feature triggers when cash prizes land on the same spin with one of the 4 collect symbols: green, yellow, red and purple all with different perks.
The default collect symbol is the green one, where it just serves as a normal collect and will award all of the cash prizes on the board.
The yellow collect symbol may place new cash prizes or upgrade the existing ones, significantly increasing the value of the collected wins.
The red collect symbols respins the empty slots and if new cash prizes land, it respins again, and again until no new cash prizes are added.
The purple symbol is a double collect symbol, effectively doubling the cash prizes that are on the screen, as it collects each prize twice.
- Wheel Feature: The wheel feature is triggered by the purple bird in-between the yellow and pink hippo.
When it triggers the wheel will start spinning and one of the many prizes will be awarded. Some of those are the jackpots on the left, side the Lock’N’Win feature with different perks selected or some cash prizes.
- Lock’N’Win Feature: This feature has a chance to randomly trigger when coins land on the reels and are swallowed by the hippos. Depending on which hippo is triggered, there are different perks active. The orange hippo will trigger a multiplier, the yellow hippo will give dual reels and the purple reel will give purple cash symbol that collects all prizes on the reel and becomes a symbol of its own.
This is the purple and orange ones in action, as all features can be in combinations or all 3 can be triggered at the same time as well.
This is the yellow hippo activated with the dual reels. As you can see each one spins individually and is unaffected by the other. The feature ends when both sets are complete.
This is where the multiplier feature and the dual reels feature were triggered. Overall the payouts range from 20x to 60x from what we’ve seen.
- Boost Feature: For 2x per spin you can boost your chance to trigger a Collect feature by 2x. For 10x per spin you can boost your chance to trigger a Collect feature by 15x.
We’ve tried these several times, and while the Collect feature does show up very often, the cost of 10x the current bet is quite hefty.
Verdict
3 Lucky Hippos 2, is a worthy successor of 3 Lucky Hippos and excels in literally everything.
To say that we love this slot, would be an understatement, as the game has everything we were hoping for and more.
