The previous Andvari slot was released back in July 2023, and it was Andvari: The Magic Ring Slot which gave us max prize of up to 10,000x.

This one comes with a higher max prize of 250,000$ but a lower multiplier of 5,000x as the max bet was increased from 20.00$ to 50.00$.

Andvari The Golden Fish keeps the same 5×4 gameboard, with 5 reels, 4 rows and 40 fixed paylines.

The slot’s RTP is 96.24%, the volatility is set to MEDIUM and the hit rate is 24.83%.

The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet reaches 50.00$, with the max prize being 5,000x the bet.

The bet menu Foxium has had for years is our ideal one, where the player can select the desired wager with one simple click.

On the contrary the settings menu is quite poor in terms of options, allowing us to only turn on or off the audio.

We would like to see sounds and music being separated and perhaps even volume adjusters, as players would like to sometimes turn off the music but keep the sound of the slot on.

Overall the studio is keeping the same style of symbols and offers us great animations, wonderful graphics and familiar adventurous music.

Slot Features

• Coin Collect: During gameplay a coin symbol can appear on any reel. The coins will be collected above the reels. When 4 coins are collected they activate the Wild reel feature which is active for 4 spins in base game or during the whole feature in free spins.

You can see the empty spots where the gold coins go on the screen. This happens quite often and this is the bread and butter for this slot. The goal is to have as many wild reels as possible at once.

• Bubble Bang: During the base game bubbles show up which are collected and can randomly trigger the bonus game. During the bonus game one of the 4 jackpots can be won: Mini Jackpot 15x; Minor Jackpot 40x, Major 500x; and Grand Jackpots 5,000x.

Selecting a bubble awards you a fish which can be a red, a blue, a purple or red. A jackpot is awarded after collecting all 3 fish. In our case we managed to collect 3 green fish which awarded us the Mini 15x jackpot, though we were hoping for that one last red fish for the 5,000x.

• Andvari Wild Reel: Once you’ve collected all coins above a reel it turns wild for the next 4 wagered spins.

The more Wild Reels at once you have the better as they will result in a lot more winning combinations.

• Wilds: The wild in this game substitutes for all symbols but coin bubble and scatter symbols.

Because this symbol shows on its own a lot and also while the reels are wild, you would be seeing wilds almost on any given spin during your gameplay on this slot.

• Free Spins: Landing 3 free spins symbols award 12 free spins. During the free spins if you trigger a Wild Reel it will remain until the end of the free spins.

On this trigger we only managed to get around 14x with one wild reel active. Have we had reel 1 and reel 3 active as well it would have been a different story. Now there are free spins with a booster but those will become active after you collect 2x free spins symbols 38 times, which will take quite a while. In fact it took us nearly 1500 spins to get this done.

The feature starts with a spin to determine your prize multiplier, and though we landed on 3x, Andvari pushed it to 5x.

The feature starts with 2 wild reels automatically from the very first spin, so you only need to activate 1-2 more to see some really big prizes which is also dependent on your multiplier. At the end of this feature we saw around 200x payout which was insane.

• Buy & Gamble Features: These two feature are available on the left side of the gameboard.

The buy feature will cost you 65x to get 12 free spins without a free spin boost.

The gamble feature costs 6.5x per every 10% you want to increase your chance to trigger free spins. We wouldn’t recommend using this feature simply because you can end up with nothing.

Verdict

Andvari The Golden Fish is the brand new slot from Foxium, featuring Andvari again, and it brings a lot of fun and features.

At first we were skeptical in terms of what new will this slot bring but it turns out it’s quite different from the previous one.

The one in 2023 brought us pretty much a Link&Win feature with Free Spins, but they were not consistent because of the high volatiltiy.

This one brings us two sets of Free Spins, a bonus game for a chance to win one of the 4 jackpots, and a collect feature which turns the reels wild almost all of the time.

While there wasn’t much of a “wow” effect the winnings were a lot more consistent because of the MEDIUM volatility and the Free Spins booster was something to work for in the long term.

While this slot is still a month away from an official release Yukon Gold Casino has it right now, if you wish to register and play it ahead of everyone.
