Gates of Asgard Power Combo is an online slot, developed by Infinity Dragon Studios, powered by Microgaming online casinos, released on March 13th 2024.

This is the 4th Power Combo slot from this studio, with the previous 3 being SPIES – Operation Fortune, Atlantis and Gods&Pyramids.

The slot has a Norse mythology theme, while the graphics have been done in a comics style, with a max prize up to 10,525x the bet.

Gates of Asgard Power Combo sticks to the standard 5×3 gameboard with 5 reels, 3 rows and 40 fixed paylines, compared to some of the previous releases.

The slot’s RTP is 96.20%, the volatility is set to MEDIUM and the hit rate is 25.60%.

The minimum bet pre spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet reaches 25.00$, a range that has been almost identical to the previous Power combo slots.

The studio has went with this bet menu style from the very beginning and we love it as it allows players to select wagers with one click, have a minimum and maximum bet button as well as adjusting buttons for anyone who wishes to change their bet directly from the board.

The settings menu has plenty of options from which to choose from like quick spins and turbo spins, sound and music volume and big win celebrations.

Rarely you would see volume adjusters in a slot, which we believe should become the standard, as slots are no different than any other game.

Overall good UI, identical to the previously released slots from the studio, though we are not fans for the comics style graphics, as symbols and elements blend too much, but hey this is like the 4th slot with similar visuals, so players must love it.

Slot Features

• Wilds:

During our testing the symbol was present on almost every spin and helped us complete small to medium sized winnings around 4x-10x.

• Link&Win with Purple Scatter: The purple scatter can trigger this feature which will award a Link&Win feature with a random multiplier between 2x, 3x and 5x on each spin. As usual you start with 3 respins and 3 coins locked on the reels while every other position respins. Landing new coins will lock them in place and reset the respins back to 3. The random multiplier is applied to any symbol that lands on the given spin.

While playing this feature the multiplier you would mostly see is the 2x, but we did have a pleasant surprise when a 4x prize was multiplier by a 5x multiplier and the prize became 20x. Needless to say that was a big chunk of the overall payout which came to be 39x.

• Link&Win with Blue Scatter: This feature is triggered by the blue scatter and will expand the Link&Win feature to 5×5 gameboard. You will get an additional 10 positions to land a symbol on. Once again you start with 3 respins and 3 locked coins and for every other coin that lands the respins are reset back to 3.

During our testing this trigger happened to be one of the most lucrative ones, although in terms of odds it should be the worst one. Our overall payout here was 50.2x.

• Link&Win with Red Scatter: This feature is triggered by the red scatter and adds extra symbols to the feature with a collect symbol and the 3 jackpot symbols that can be seen on the left side: Minor 50x, Major 250x and Grand 2,500x.

When a collect symbol shows on the board it will instantly collect all of the current prizes on the board and store them. Once it does that the symbol gets a random value as well. Once the feature is over the prizes on the board and the stored prize from the collect feature are combined. During our testing this was the least lucrative option as our average payout was around 17x.

• Link&Win with Multiple Scatters: Because this is a Power Combo slot, a combination of the scatters can trigger the Link&Win and then the features will be combined.

Needless to say triggering the Link&Win with all 3 perks unlocked will be the most lucrative feature in the game. During this run we managed to get a 149x payout, with landing the collect symbol once, but managing to get a 5x multiplier on a few decent prizes.

• Viking Valor Bonus Feature: Whenever a viking valor symbol appears on the reel, it’s stored in the chest on the right side and has a chance to trigger the feature.

During the feature a 3×3 gameboard shows that spins the reels and whatever lands in the middle is awarded. The prizes can be Link&Win feature, one of the jackpots or cash prizes. We only managed to land 6x in cash prizes. This is a very rare feature that you won’t see for a while as it took us over three hundred spins to see it.

• Buy Feature: If the player does not wish to wait to trigger any of the Link&Win features, they can instantly buy them for a calculated cost.

The values are as follow: 36.7x for Multiplier, 33.5x for Expanding Reels, 29.2x for Instant collect. Then there are combinations of the features that cost: 84.5x for Expanding Reels and Multiplier, 60.5x for Multiplier and Instant Collect and 68.1x for Instant Collect and Expanding Reels. The cost for all 3 features at once is 164.2x.

Verdict

Gates of Asgard Power Combo is another slot from the Power Combo series that will not grab your attention if you have already played one or more of those slots.

The features are quite similar though this time it’s not free spins it’s Link&Win features with different perks.

If this is your first Power Combo slot however it will be a great first time experience, but for those regular players, the slot will be perhaps disappointing.

It’s currently available on Yukon Gold Casino as of March 13th 2024, but we don’t see it to gain much traction, as many better slots are coming out this month.
