Mayan Fusion is an online slot, developed by Slingshot Studios, powered by Apricot online casinos, released on January 28th 2025.
The game is a reskin for the very popular Gold Fusion Slot, which was released back in July 2024, and became an instant hit among players.
The slot has quite the unusual gameboard, with prizes above each reel, several jackpots and a max prize of up to 7,500x the bet.
Slot Design
Mayan Fusion has the standard 5×3 gameboard with 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 fixed paylines.
However on top of each reel there’s a perk from shifting wilds, to wild multipliers and jackpots.
The RTP is 96.24%, the volatility is HIGH and the hit rate is 20.57%.
The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet per spin reaches 30.00$, with the max prize being capped at 7,500x.
The bet menu is the standard for 2025, where the player can select their desired wager with a simple click. At the same time, the settings menu seems lackluster.
The sound option mutes both music and sounds, when in fact it should be two different options for music and background sounds, perhaps even volume adjusters.
Overall the UI is exactly what Gold Fusion Slot looked like, except the Mayan theme which was applied to the symbols and the gameboard itself.
Slot Features
- Feature Tabs: The feature tabs are located above each reel in the base game. Two types of symbols land, an upgrade symbol and a trigger symbol. Multiple prizes can be unlocked on the same spin.
On reel one, we have a wild multiplier, which starts from 1X up to 10x, reel 2 has the MINI jackpot which starts from 10x up to 30x. Reel 3 adds a specific amount of wilds up to 10 symbols, the 4 reel gives access to the Minor 30x jackpot up to 80x. Reel 5 offers shifting wilds which shift from reel 5 to reel 1 on each spin.
- Wilds: The wild symbol in this slot substitutes for all symbols but trigger, upgrade and free spin symbols.
While the symbol itself shows up quite often, reel 1, reel 3 and reel 5 triggers will add a lot to the symbol, from multipliers to more wilds and shifting wilds.
- Jackpot Feature: There are 4 different jackpots in this slot which have base value and can grow: Mini 10x, Minor 30x, Major 250x and Grand 2,500x. The max values can go up to Mini 30x, Minor 80x, Major 750x and Grand 7,500x.
This feature is randomly triggered and if every reel lands a symbol and lights up the letters, the jackpot is awarded. This feature applies to the MAJOR and GRAND jackpots.
- Free Spins: Landing 3 scatters triggers this feature. The free spins start with a wheel.
Whatever lands here on the wheel will replace all feature tabs during free spins.
Our trigger managed to land on the shifting wilds, but we only managed to trigger the reels twice and our overall payout was only 36.5x
- Upsizer: The upsizer is a feature which allows you to replace your current feature into a different feature for a calculated cost.
The Jackpots feature is the most expensive one, roughly 20x cost, while the Walking Wilds was roughly 10x. These are the prices if you have landed Extra Wilds. If you had only landed Multiplier the prices will be higher and if you had landed Walking Wilds, the price of the jackpots is roughly 10x. From testing we saw that these features do not guarantee more winnings and we had our biggest wins on the Extra Wilds.
- Buy Feature: If for any reason a player does not wish to wait for a trigger, they can purchase the free spins.
The cost is 50x for the feature, and then additional fees can be paid on the Upsizer. Overall we did not find it profitable to buy the feature as we only managed to break even once out of ten times.
Verdict
Mayan Fusion is the 2025 version of the Gold Fusion slot, which was release half a year ago.
The slot kept the same engine, the same features, but changed the overall theme and symbols.
The feature tabs is something we liked and found quite interesting, as many players, since the original slot was a hit when it released.
Both games are available on Yukon Gold Casino, in addition to over a 1,000 slots now from the Games Global library.
