Five months ago this studio released the original Unusual Suspects, a Cops & Robbers slot, which became quite popular with a max prize up to 12,500x.

Now More Unusual Suspects brings a max win up to 15,000x where the official release is more than a month away,

However the game is currently available as an Early Release on Yukon Gold Casino and players have access to it.

More Unusual Suspects continues with the same 5×4 gameboard like the original, with 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 fixed paylines.

The slot’s RTP is 96.06%, the volatility was kept MEDIUM and the hit rating is 35.34%.

The minimum bet per spins starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet reaches 15.00$, making the slot ideal for those looking for low wagering slots.

Northern Lights Gaming has chosen to keep their bet menu as in any other previous slot, allowing players to choose from popular bets with one click, use a min and max buttons or simply adjust the wager with minus and plus signs.

The slot has no settings menu, as everything that you might need is already on the gameboard like the quick spins and sound option.

The only other menu is the Autoplay menu, where you can select up to a 100 spins and play them automatically.

We would love to see the sounds and music to get on different channels with options to adjust the volume and turn them off individually.

In terms of visuals, the slot uses the same symbols and visuals as the original, and adds a few more characters to spice things up.

Overall great presentation something to be expected from Northern Lights Gaming as they have been releasing big hits during 2023.

Slot Features

• Wilds: Wilds in this slot can appear both in base game and free spins. They can substitute for all symbols but scatters and detective symbols. The wilds can be normal ones and golden ones, where the golden ones explode and spawn more wilds.

Wilds are common, the golden wilds not that much as they tend to show up on the reel but then don’t land. However when they actually do land, they have a chance to create an explosion of wilds which will leave wild frames around as well. We’ve seen this happen perhaps once every hundred spins.

• Wilds Sticky Frames: Every wild symbol that lands on the reel, leave a sticky 1x frame with the possibility to increase the multiplier up to 5x.

The multipliers grow when you land a wild on an already existing frame and it has to be a wild that was landed on a spin and not awarded by the detective symbol.

• Detective Wild Bonus: The detective symbol will populate all sticky frames with wilds. Any multiplier on a win line is applied during the bonus. The bonus is applied during base game and free spins, but during base game after it’s applied the frames are removed.

This feature appears quite often, and ideally when you have landed at least 5-6 wild frames. This way when the frames are filled with wilds, a winning combination is more likely to occur.

• Bonus Perk Bar: This bar moves with +1 when 2 scatters land on the gameboard. The bar is saved per bet and will unlock an extra bonus perk pick before the free spins starts. It takes 50 tokens to fill up the bar.

It’s not that rare that we saw 2 scatters during our gameplay, so expect to have that bar filled up roughly once every hundred spins, especially if the Scatter Nudging Respin occurs, as this is most likely going to to give you at least 2 tokens.

• Bonus Perk Pick: When you trigger the free spins this feature will show up with more unusual suspects which will reveal 1 perk: Boost Perk (unlocks the first big boss on the free spins trail which awards 5 extra spins and a 2x multiplier); +2 Extra Spins; Frame Perk which adds random amount of frames; Wild Perk which adds more wilds; Detective Perk which adds more detective symbols; No perk which adds nothing.

We had the extra pick already stacked at 50, so we received an extra pick. We were unlucky to draw the X on the yellow guy, but we did get free spins boost, more detectives and more spins.

• Scatter Nudging Respin: Landing 2 scatters but on the top 3 rows will trigger this feature. Any reel with scatter will be held and nudge down with 1 row while the other reels respin.

Quite often, both scatters land on the top rows where you not only get the respins but extra tokens for the bonus perk bar.

• Big Boss Free Spins: Landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters awards 10, 15 or 20 free spins respectively. Every 3rd detective symbol awards a big boss which grants 5 extra spins and a multiplier starting from 2x, then 3x, 5x and 10x. One getaway spin can be awarded after the last free spin.

We started with a total of 17 free spins, and a 2x multiplier. The Golden Wilds showed up a lot more often during the free spins and would actually spawn more golden wilds as well. This granted us a few big wins of up to 40x and a total payout at the end of the 17 spins of 85x. We were close to triggering another 5 extra spin and 3x multiplier but we never got that third detective symbols.

• Vault Jackpot Bonus: Landing gold bar symbols get collected in the vault and have a chance to randomly trigger the Jackpot bonus: Mini 20x, Minor 75x, Major 1,000x, Grand 5,000x. Reveal 3 matching symbols to be awarded the corresponding jackpot.

This feature triggers very rarely to the point it’s almost non existent, but still we did manage to get it once in the spawn of several hundred spins and it gave us the lowest possible payout of 20x.

• Buy/Gamble Feature: The slot comes with a buy feature where you can buy the free spins for a calculated cost, or gamble for them with a chance to trigger them.

The cost for buying free spins is 100x, while the gambling option allows you to spend a percentage of that for the same amount of chance, hence 900 would be for 90% chance to trigger the free spins, 500 would be for 50% chance to trigger free spins.

Verdict

More Unusual Suspects will officially be released in March, but for more than a month you would be able to play it on Yukon Gold Casino before the release, as the game is currently there listed under Early Releases.

How do we feel about this upgrade, well it feel almost identically the same but with a few more perks during free spins and a jackpot pick feature which shows up quite rarely.

Overall we expect the slot to do just as well as its predecessor as it offers the same futures, and more, so it makes no sense to play the old one, as they have the same volatility and pretty much identical wagers, but even bigger max win prize.
