This is a cluster Pays Any slot, where identical symbols get destroyed, award winnings and new symbols take their place.

In order a win to trigger, the player has to land at least 8 identical symbols, on the board on a single spin.

Slot Design

Olympus Thunderhold has a bigger 6×5 gameboard with, 6 reels 5 rows and Pay Any system, where you’d need to land 8 or more identical symbols.

The RTP of the slot is 96.00%, the volatility is HIGH and the hit rate is undisclosed.

The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet per spin reaches 20.00$, with the max prize being capped at 2,500x a number that’s actually decent for US slots.

As usual, there’s no bet menu, but two adjusting button and a max bet button on the bottom of the slot. This is normal for RTG slots as they have been using the same UI for decades now.

The settings menu again still the same with all the necessary options like mute sound and mute music, as well as a hotkey for spinning. What I would like to see is perhaps some volume sliders, a QoL feature that many studios have started using in their games.

Overall decent symbols, animations and music, and RTG has locked in this UI and I don’t see them changing any of it any time soon.

Slot Features

  • Cascading Wins: This is the core mechanic of the slot, and it’s present in base game and free spins (free games). When the player lands 8 or more identical symbols they award a pay, the symbols get destroyed and new ones take their place. The spin continues until no winning combinations are present.

Whenever the symbols are about to be destroyed, they flash, turn in blue and then disappear. There are no wilds here, and both the base game and free spins play identically.

  • Bonus Bet: If a player wants a higher chance to trigger free games, they can activate this feature for a 25% total bet increase.

The gameboard starts glowing blue on the sides, and your bet is increased. Would have been nice if there was a more obvious visual cue that something has changed. During my testing, this option did make a significant difference in the trigger rates of the free spins (free games).

  • Free Games: The free spins (called free games) in the slot are triggered if the player lands 4 or more scatters. A total of 10 free spins are awarded.

The main difference between the base game and the free games is the multiplier symbol which can randomly appear and can have value from 2x to a 100x. On the left side you can see the total cascading wins, and the multiplier that had landed from the top red symbol.

  • Buy Feature: If the player does not wish to wait to trigger the Free Games by spinning, they can purchase them for a calculated cost.

The cost for the feature is 100x, which is pretty steep, but given the multipliers that can show up during free games, it’s understandable. I’ve always disliked buy features, as they sort of defy the purpose of spinning the slot, but different players different preferences.

Verdict

Is Olympus Thunderhold worth your time? Considering that the slots on the US market differ quite much from those available in Europe, and given their limited variety, I’d say this one is perfect for player looking for something different.

A non standard slot with Pays Any, where you have to land 8 or more identical symbols to trigger a win.

The same feature in free spins but supplemented by multipliers for the cascading wins up to 100x, which is quite a lot.

Decent max win of 2,500x and a bonus bet feature to help players trigger more free spins for minimal cost of 25%.
