The slot resembles Candy Crush and has the engine of the Asgardian Fire Slot, where each spin can have up to 262,144 ways with a max prize up to 5,000x the bet.

Pineapple Pop has an identical gameboard like Asgardian Fire, consisting of 6 reels and 4 rows which can go up to 8 rows, and up to total of 262,144 payways.

The slot’s RTP is 96.00%, identical as the previous slot, volatility this time is VERY HIGH, and the hit rate is set to 38.00%.

The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet reaches 50.00$, making this slot ideal for all types of players.

Neon Valley Studios have found a great bet menu layout and are sticking with it, allowing players to select the desired wager with a single click.

They still give you the option to adjust the wager directly from the gameboard, but we find it quicker to just open the menu and pick a bet.

The settings menu allows us to turn on quick spins, as well as adjust the volumes of both music and sounds, or completely turn them off individually.

The symbols and animations look great for a fruit themed slot, and indeed it gives us that Candy Crush vibe, though it has the same engine as Asgardian Fire.

Slot Features

• Rolling Reels: A standard feature for a lot of slots these days, where the winning symbols are removed and new ones take their place. As long as new winning combinations form, this feature continues.

The winning symbols are highlighted with a border corresponding to their color, and then they just “pop”. This feature is the bread and butter of the slot and you will see on almost every spin.

• Escalating Ways: Once a winning combination forms, the game adds up to 4 additional rows, which result on more payways up to a total of 262,144.

Because this feature goes hand in hand with the rolling reels feature, you’d be seeing this one just as often.

• Jumbo Blocks: These big blocks can appear during the rolling reel feature and can appear anywhere between reels 2-6 with any symbol but scatter and wilds and will be in size 2×3, 3×3 or 4×4.

These are not as rare as we though, pretty much the same trigger rate as Asgardian Fire. They are a nice addition and occasionally are involved in winning combinations.

• Wild Fill Feature: This feature fills the empty spaces below the Jumbo Blocks with wilds, allowing you to get a lot more winning combinations.

Most of the time you will get 1 or 2 wilds as there are only that many empty spaces, but in some rare occasions there would be more which will participate in a winning combo as well.

• Second Chance: Every scatter that lands triggers this feature. Up to 12 symbols will explode around, to free space for new symbols and new winning combinations. Wilds, Scatters and Jumbo Blocks do not explode.

This is a more rare feature, which will occasionally show roughly around every 50 to a 100 spins, or at least this is the pattern we saw during our testing.

• Free Spins: Landing 3 scatters during base game will award 6 free spins. Each additional scatter that shows on the gameboard adds +3 spins.

We felt like there’s a lot more scatters showing up during the free spins and we received plenty of explosions. Our overall payout however was only 35.4x which is pretty low, but that’s the very high volatility playing here.

• Elevator: During free spins, after each spin this feature adds 1 additional row. The maximum number of rows can be 8, and the maximum payways achieved persist for the remainder of the free spin feature.

The elevator line is displayed at all times, and it’s certain that on the 5th spin it will reach 8 rows.

• Buy Feature: If the player wishes to buy free spins, they can do so for a calculated price.

The cost is big, actually quite big, 70x for 6 free spins, 100x for 9 free spins, 125x for 12 free spins, 140x for 15 free spins and 300x for 25 free spins.

• Upsizer: When you buy or trigger free spins, this feature will show up to upgrade your selection unless you are the maximum. The upgrades are available for a calculated cost.

On our 4 scatter trigger for 9 free spins, these are the upgrade costs: +3 extra spins for a total of 12 for 41.66x, +6 extra spins for 93.75x or 16 extra spins for 237.5x.

• Wilds & Persistent Wilds: The blue border Wild symbol is the normal one which substitutes for all symbols but scatters and appears on reels 2-6. The Persistent Wild symbol has a purple border and it will persist on the board during free spins only until it’s part of a winning combination.

During free spins, these show up quite often, and almost always participate in a winning combo right away.

Verdict

So Pineapple Pop uses the same engine as Asgardian Fire, which was a very popular game during August and September of 2023.

This time however the studio has decided to give us that Candy Crush vibe, with a lot of fruits, and super high volatility.

We personally think this very high volatility takes away a little of the fun Asgardian Fire was, as during our testing here, with over a thousand spins we could not trigger anything decent.

Most of our free spins payouts were in the 30x-50x range, while the times we bought free spins from the Buy Feature never made their money back.

It’s still a great game that will be available on January 25th 2024 on Yukon Gold Casino, but have in mind that the volatility has been bumped which will result in longer dry streaks.
