This is the sequel to the original Treasures of Kilauea, released in August 2022, which was one of the studio’s best slots at the time.
Though the game will come out more than a month away from now, Yukon Gold Casino has it in their early releases section, so if you’d like to play it now, you know what to do.

Slot Design
Treasures of Kilauea 2 has a slightly bigger than the standard gameboard, with 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 fixed paylines.
The slot’s RTP is 96.02%, the volatility is set to VERY HIGH and the hit rate is 21.21%.
The minimum bet per spin starts from 0.20$, while the maximum bet per spin reaches 50.00$, with the maximum prize being capped at 5,000x the bet.
While PearFiction Studios has a decent bet menu, it’s not ideal as the bet presets are just a few and you still have to adjust your wager with the plus and minus buttons. Many of the big studios have started to use one click menus, where all of the available options are shown and all the player has to do is pick one.
Their settings menu however is quite good allowing players to select different spinning speeds, turn off both music and sounds and even adjust the volume.
In terms of UI and visuals, the slot looks a lot like the original, but with some noticeable symbol and animation upgrades, which is great.
Slot Features
- Wilds: The Wilds in this game substitute for all symbols but torch, jackpot and bonus symbols.
As a player you will see this symbol quite often as some of the features like the Wild Burst revolve around spawning wilds along with different perks like multipliers and stacks.
- Wild Burst Feature: The sequel has only one counter which is in the middle of the gameboard, as opposed to the original which had 2 counters. This counter goes from 50 to 0 to unlock features, and is removed once all features are unlocked.
The first two features are unlocked by default. The single flame one adds a fiery zone on the reel, converting any symbol that lands there into a wild. The two flames symbol adds additional fiery zones. After 50 spins, the Respin feature is unlocked which allows the wilds to be locked and the rest of the positions to respin. After 100 spins, the remove all low value symbols feature is unlocked. After a 150 spins the Wild convert feature is unlocked where 1 to 3 reels is converted into wilds, and any existing wilds become stacked with a 2x multiplier.
After 200 spins the Wild Multiplier feature is unlocked where any wild symbol get a multiplier from 2x to 10x.
- Jackpot Feature: The slot has 4 rising jackpots which start from their base value and can reach a certain higher amount. The jackpots are: Mini 10x – 25x; Minor 25x – 100x; Major 250x – 500x; and MEGA 2500x – 5000x.
Whenever a token with the jackpot’s name lands on the reels, that jackpot increases with 1x and the token has a chance to trigger the bonus wheel feature.
- Lock’n’Win Feature: The Lock’n’Win feature can be triggered by any of the bonus symbols. This feature is a bit more different than a regular Lock and Win feature.
The amount of spins does not reset whenever you land a symbol. However when this feature starts we get a horizontal reel that spins whenever a new symbol lands and has different prize multipliers, extra spins, collect symbols and jackpot symbols.
There are also increase symbols that add a specific value to all prizes. The amount of spins will be determined by the amount of perks the player lands. Depending on the upzones when the feature triggers the bonus perks will have different values.
Max upzone does not guarantee better winnings, but a higher chance to get something nice as there are even 100x multipliers.
- Bonus Wheel: When a torch symbol shows up on a reel, the coal on the bottom gets light up. Collecting one under each reel guarantees a trigger. However you can randomly get a trigger from the jackpot symbols as well.
Once you land one of the 4 jackpots, the value of the jackpot won is reset back to base.
- Buy Feature: The Lock’n’Win feature can be bought if the player does not wish to way for a trigger.
The costs depends on the amount of upzones a player already has the lower the more expensive the features are.
Verdict
Treasures of Kilauea 2 comes a few years later than the original Treasures of Kilauea but does it feel like a worthy successor?
To us it felt like a different game than a successor, meaning you can enjoy both games separately as the features are quite different.
The original gave us two counters, some wild perks, jackpots and free spins, while this one gives us substantially more wild perks on a different trigger mechanism, raising jackpots which can be triggers on a bonus wheel feature, a lock’n’win feature which plays differently than a link&win feature and a buy feature.
Overall we enjoyed the sequel and would recommend it, but at the same time, we believe the original still holds its place.
Though the game is more than a month away from an official release, Yukon Gold Casino has it in their Early Releases section.
